Our Change for Orphans project has come to a close. Though
that doesn’t mean any of you have to stop what you are doing.
At the beginning of April we invited as many as felt the
Lord leading, to save up their loose change for orphans. Our project officially
ended on August first and our grand total came to… (drum roll please.)
$77.11!!!
I’m so excited for the orphans and adoptive families that
will be helped with this money.
It’s amazing how much change can become when every cent is
added together. Just like the body of Christ, every little piece is so very
important.
One afternoon I went to visit a dear friend of my and after
settling ourselves down she brought over a large sandwich bag full of change.
She shared how she had heard about our Change for Orphans project and she and
her husband wanted to give us their change.
I was deeply touched. I’m sure they could easily use every
penny they have, but still they wanted to give.
I know my friend and her husband well and I know they are
far too humble to say they have done anything noteworthy. But every life
matters.
Here at Pages for the Dark Horses we focus on the “one.” We
see orphans as individual treasures and not massive numbers. We see adoptive
families as one family and not overall statistics. And we see you as one, not
some invisible crowd that passes through our site.
You may not have one cent to give, but you have something to
give that no one else can. You have something that someone desperately needs.
You were put here for a reason, to give the gift of yourself. And whether that
seems big or small in your eyes, it’s important. Someone needs you, someone
needs your life. I am not of the knowledge to say for who or where, but I know
the Lord doesn’t make mistakes.
In the body of Christ we all need each other. We all need
each other to be doing the thing that we were made to do.
I believe that the Lord has a plan for each and every orphan
that we advocate for on this site. I don’t get to see their whole lives unfold.
(as much as I would like to.) But I am honored that I get to be a part of it
even if for just a moment. Because I need them. We need them for the gift they
have to give, as a part of the body.
but by an equality, that now at this time
your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your
lack--that there may be equality.
2 Corinthians 8:14
"So I find that all this time...
beneath the surface I could shine...
like all the gold the king and queen could measure.
You see even just a penny...
