10 Great Things about Boys!

You do know that China has boys available for adoption, don't you??? Well if you don't know, they do!!!

The Original Crisis
Years ago China came onto the international adoption scene with a heart wrenching crisis. Little infant girls were being abandon and growing up in orphanages without the love of a family, simply because they were a girl.
Most Chinese families at that time were only allowed to have one child and they desired a son. In their culture the son takes care of his parents when they get old.
Families from all over the world began to open their homes to these precious little treasures.
Well with the popularity of international adoption, the change in cultural views about girls in China, and in the views of domestic adoption the healthy girl crisis has virtually ended. There is still a very LONG line of families waiting years and years to be matched with a healthy girl, but most agencies won't even let you get in line for that anymore. And now that China has changed their one child policy to two, we rejoice in knowing that even fewer healthy girls will be abandon.

A New Crisis
The story of the orphans in China is now a new story. A son is a prized treasure or even a daughter now, but not if their imperfect. Everyday children are left on street corners, in hospital waiting rooms, at bus stations, and in open fields, not because of their gender, but because of their medical needs.

What is "special needs" Anyway?
In our country the term "special needs" means something different than it does in China adoption. When I think of someone with "special needs" in the U.S. I think of someone with serious cerebral palsy, who is wheelchair bound and nonverbal. In China adoption or any international adoption, "special needs" can define anything from an extra finger or toe to the wheelchair bound child with CP.

So what about the boys?
I don't know why world wide there seems to be more boys waiting to be adopted than girls, but in China adoption I have a theory! People are uninformed. A family may see another family at their church who has adopted a little girl from China. Not knowing about the boys, their hearts are moved for the little girls and they start the process to adopt a girl.
I have heard about families waiting 2 years to adopt a little girl with a cleft lip and palate. In 2013 as soon as my parents got their paperwork to the correct point they were immediately matched with my little brother who has a cleft lip and palate.
When my dad says he's adopted 6 children from China I'm surprised at how many people assume they are all girls. The girl crisis was so well publicized most people are still in the dark about all the little boys!

Let's be a voice!
Now I'm not saying people shouldn't adopt a girl. I have three sisters I love dearly and know a family who has recently started the process to adopt a little girl who desperately NEEDS a family. So this isn't a judgement against girl adoption. If the Lord calls you to it, do it! This is simply an education for you as advocates. So the next time you find yourself in that international or China adoption discussion you can share this little bit of information you've learned to help some of these future sons come home!

10 Great Things about Boys!

1.) They Rescue us from Boredom!
Little boys keep our lives full of life and heroic adventure!
Everyone loves a superhero!
Jamie needs a family to play with.

2.) They make us Laugh!
Little boys are some of the most ticklish people I've ever met!
I love that little giggle scream you get when you tickle them in the back of the neck!
Roy HAS A FAMILY!!!

3.) They have Sweet Innocence.
Even after being naughty one of those innocent little smiles can melt a frustrated heart!
Just like little girls, little boys aren't perfect that's why they need parents to teach them.
Kyle HAS A FAMILY!!!

4.) They have Simple Hairstyles!
A little boy can go around with a buzz cut that doesn't even need to be brushed in the morning!
And have you seen the cute clothes in the boys department?! What fun it is to shop for a son!
Kenny needs a family to have fun shopping for his clothes.

5.) They Decorate our Lives!
From arts and crafts to building with Legos and wood, little boys like to create things!
Peter HAS A FAMILY!!!

6.) The Joy of Boy Toys!
My nine-year-old brother is one of the easiest people to buy a gift for!
Boys love things as simple as a ball or a dollar Hot Wheel's car.
Charlie HAS A FAMILY!!!

7.) Boys aren't so Emotional!
I heard a lady in a store once tell someone she couldn't have a daughter because they're too emotional!
Boys have feelings, but not those rising and falling emotions known only to woman.
For this reason I find boys very refreshing to be around!
Nathaniel is eagerly waiting for a family to bring him home!

8.) They Bring us Outside!
I have not met a boy yet who didn't love playing outside!
Riding bikes and scooters, playing sports, climbing park equipment or simply running, boys bring us outside to enjoy the seasons and this wonderful world God has made!
Sawyer is looking for a family who will go out and play with him!

9.) They are their Momma's Baby
Girls can have struggles in life if they never had a good father figure, but little boys lack if they don't have a momma.
Momma's give something to their sons no one else can, their love and affection, their encouragement, and their momma bear growl that will protect and defend their son against even the fiercest opposition!
Tobiaslife so far sadly shows the lack of a Momma in it.

10.) They are Leaders.
God created boys to lead, and we need more godly young men being raised up to lead.
To lead our families, our churches, our communities, and our nations.
These boys won't be boys forever, someday they will be men. Who will have taught them? And how will they teach those after them?
Sherman needs a family to raise him up to be a man who fears the Lord.

So now you know!!!
Feel free to share this post with EVERYONE!!!
And let them know there are sons in China waiting for them!
