Curious About Adoption?

Curious about Adoption?
A lot of people are curious about adoption, but don't know anyone personally who has walked out the process.
Perhaps you or your family would like to learn more adoption, but you aren't certain yet if this is what the Lord has for your family.
Well we'd like to help provide you with a few "no strings attached" ways to learn more about adoption.

Adoption Agencies
Most adoption agencies have websites. You can learn a LOT from an agency website without ever actually contacting them.

Agencies websites can provide you with information on:
Countries: You can learn about the places an agency works with.
Children: You can learn about the children available from said countries (ages, gender, special needs, etc.)
Time Frame: They usually give an estimated time frame the process will take.
Expenses: And some agencies even have a financial break down of the costs.

Rainbow Kids has a large list of adoption agencies you could look into: Rainbow Kids

Waiting Child Lists
Many adoption agencies have waiting child lists. This is a list of photos of actual children waiting to be adopted. Here are some things you should know about these lists.

Access: Some agencies have open access to their lists while other agencies require you to request a password. Most passwords are easy to get, they typically just want an email address so they can send it to you. The agency will likely send you a form "Welcome" email to you and your family offering assistance to you if you should want to pursue an adoption. You are not obligated to reply to these and you can typically unsubscribe to any further agency emails.

Note: Asking for a password is in NO way a commitment to adopting a child.

The Children: The children on a waiting child list are not the only children available for adoption from said countries. Usually the children shown are older or have more significant special needs. Many countries have younger children or children with less serious needs available as well.

Advocacy Sites
There are several big orphan advocacy sites that can be viewed by anyone without a password.

This site has a HUGE list of available children from countries all over the world. You can create a specific search to look for children based on: country, age, special need, singles, or agency. You can also specify your search to find only siblings, children with videos, or children with financial adoption grants available.

They also have information on:
Country Programs
Special needs
Advocacy
and hosting.

*Pages for the Dark Horses does not necessary endorse the thoughts or ideas found in the family stories on Rainbow Kids.

This site is a great place to view waiting special needs children from all over the world and to support orphans and adoptive families financially!

The Children: Most of the children have individual adoption funds that you can give to, to help pay for the cost of their adoption when their forever family finds them

Families: Adoptive families can set up an adoption fund with Reese's Rainbow so that others can securely give to help these families bring home their children.
Our Featured Family the May's have a fund set up through Reese's Rainbow: May Family Adoption

Information: In respect of the various country rules about publicly displaying photos of waiting children, you'll notice that R&R doesn't list the country from which a child is from.
To learn this information you can contact them about the specific child you are interested in. When you contact them tell them the child's name, (and I usually add the birth date they list as well as the special need) They will send you an email informing you of the child's country as well as an outline of the adoption requirements. Requesting this information is in NO way a commitment to adopting the child and they will not contact you again about the child unless you request more information.

Pages for the Dark Horses:
This is a wonderful advocacy site who's main purpose is prayer, but if you should ever be interested in learning more about one of the children we feature we'd be happy to help you in any way we can.

Emailing us is in NO way a commitment to adopting a child. So don't be shy ask questions! We may not always know the answers but we'll give you our best!
Whether you're eligible to adopt now or your just a kid who wants to learn more we'd be pleased to serve you no-stings-attached.

To email us your questions go to our Contact Us page.

Special Needs
Medical needs can be very difficult to learn about. I'm always very careful about where I link people when it comes to this because I know the wrong site could scare a family off before they learned all of the facts. Here are some good sites to use when researching special needs.

This site has created a list of common special needs seen in adoption. They have clear and honest explanations with additional resource links and family stories.

This is a very well known and trusted medical site, that provides thorough yet clear explanations on a variety of disease and conditions. Simply type the disease or condition name into their search and if the information is available a general over view should come up.

Children's Hospitals
Children's hospital sites are also another good place to research diseases and conditions.

No Judgment
Here at Pages we are obviously very passionate about orphans and adoption, but we also understand that not everyone will be called by the Lord to adopt. So we don't judge you for not adopting. We appreciate that you have joined with us at this time to pray for these children. THANK YOU!!!

Truly my greatest hope and prayer for you is that you will do the will of the Father.

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Matthew 7:21

The Lord has a very specific place and plan for your life just like He has one for each of these children we are praying for!

So if you're curious about adoption, don't be shy! Look, ask questions, and find out what the Lord may have for you.
