I wanted to share with you the amazing story of this precious Dark Horse's home coming!
Thank you for your prayers for him!
Vladi (Kaysen) was born in Ukraine in June 2003. As a result of being left in a crib all of his life by the orphanage and then the institution, his body began to twist and bend and, as is often the case, doctors at the local hospital saw no point in treating him. The first ever adoption from his institution was in 2012 and soon others followed. Vladi continued to wait despite our (Reese's Rainbow) sharing photos and videos of him.
When his 16th birthday was nearing, desperate pleas and pledges towards his adoption were made. With only weeks left, a family FINALLY said YES!
They traveled to meet him in December of 2019 and miraculously, despite his frailty, lungs full of fluid, he was still alive when they passed court in January 2020. The years of infection and aspiration, however, resulted in a failed TB X-ray. The USA would not allow him to leave for at least 8 weeks.
The large hospital in Kyiv refused to admit him, however, a wonderful charity director found him somewhere to stay with a 24/7 caregiver. He passed the TB sputum test, however, there was a much larger problem now.
A global pandemic.
The borders were shut.
He couldn't come home!
Through many prayers he had ONE chance to be on a miracle flight to the US. The question of whether he’d be allowed to leave without the family who had adopted him remained, as that had NEVER happened before.
Miraculously, it was all approved and a family travelling to the USA was willing to bring him and care for him on the flight.
Vladi's flight landed in the USA on the 16th of April.
After a short hospital stay he is now home with his FAMILY!
Vladi made it HOME in the most unprecedented circumstances!
He is no longer a forgotten orphan in a crib, he is HOME as a loved SON and BROTHER!
